SÃ£o TomÃ© and PrÃncipe are two African islands that form one country. They are located off the north-west coast of Gabon in the Gulf of Guinea and have a combined population of just under 2 million people. The people of Seo Tome and Principe are known as Sao Tomean and speak Portugeuse. Most of the population are Roman Catholics.
Sao Tome is the capital city of Sao Tome and Principe and is situated in the northern part of the main island. Sao Tome has a 16th century cathedral and 400 year old forte that houses the Nation Museum which are both popular attractions.
Principe is the smaller island and has wonderful volcanic mountains, untouched forests, and immaculate beaches. This island is perfect for snorkelling and lazing about in the water. It's capital Santo AntÃ³nio is much like the city of Sao Tome but more run down.

SÃ£o TomÃ© and PrÃncipe is an archipelago which includes Mount Cameroon, Bioko in Equatorial Guinea. The highest peak of SÃ£o TomÃ© and PrÃncipe is Pico de SÃ£o TomÃ© which measures of 2,024 metres.

Although there are concerns that the poor community may not see any of this wealth due to corruption from the government. The official currency of SÃ£o TomÃ© and PrÃncipe is the Dobra.
