Burr Ridge is located just east of the centre of the nation, in the state of Illinois. Burr Ridge is part of both the Du Page and Brook Counties within the state. Formerly known as Harvester, Burr Ridge is one of the most affulent suburbs in the city of Chicago and has an estimated population of between 10,000 and 11,000 people.
Burr Ridge has a long history and was originally the home of the Sioux, Pottawattamie, Ottawa and Chippewa Indians until they were relocated in 1835. The rolling hills of Burr Rudge were created in the last ice age by glaciers, although most of the village lies on the Valparasio Moraine. By the 1880's there was a small German settlement in the village on the banks of Flagg Creek. Since 1997, the village has been amongst the top 300 wealthiest communities in the United States of America.
The Burr Ridge Village Centre is the main place of activity in the village. The Burr Ridge Village Centre is a multi-story complex which features retail shops, offices and residential spaces. Construction on the compex has been going strong since 2005 and is expected to be completed within the next year.
