Bellingham is one of the major cities and tourist destinations in the United States of America. Bellingham is located in the north west of the nation, in the state of Washington. The city is situated in the North Cascades region of the state, on Bellingham Bay. Bellingham is the 10th most populous city in the state of Washington, with a population of over 74,000 people. Bellingham has been home to many famous names, most notably members of rock bands The Posies and Death Cab For Cutie.

There are many attractions and places of interest in Bellingham such as Lake Whatcom, Whatcom Museum of History and Art, American Museum of Radio and Electricity, Bellingham Farmers Market, Whatcom Falls Park and Bellingham Railway Museum. The city also hosts events such as the Ski to Sea Race and the Bellingham Festival of Music.

The Bellingham Railway Museum is one of the most popular museums in the city and features many exhibits such as the Railroad Lanterns exhibit, Centennial exhibit and a Lionel and Tinplate trains exhibit. Other popular displays at the museum include a train simulator and a series of hand built half-inch scale models of trains which were constructed by local Bellingham modeller Randy German especially for the Bellingham Railway Museum.

Lake Whatcom is one of the most popular recreation sites in Bellingham and is also the source of Whatcom County's drinking water. The name Lake Whatcom is derived from the Lummi word for 'loud water'. Lake Whatcom forms part of the eastern border of the city of Bellingham and is 23 kilometres long. The most popular activities to partake in at Lake Whatcom are boating, fishing and swimming.
