There are many attractions and places of interest in Augusta such as Augusta Museum of History, Meadow Garden, National Science Centre's Fort Discovery, St Paul's Episcopal Church, Confederate Monument, Phinizy Swamp Nature Park, Springfield Baptist Church, Imperial Theatre and The Butt Memorial Bridge which was dedicated to Archibald Butt, a local Lieutenant who was a victim of the Titanic disaster.
The Confederate Monument was constructed in 1878 and was one of the first monuments that payed tribute to the men of Richmond County who died during the War Between the States. The monument consists of a granite bass and marble statues of Robert E. Lee, Stonewall Jackson, Thomas R. Cobb and William Henry Walker. The Confederate Monument is located in Downtown Augusta.
St Paul's Episcopal Church is located at the east end of Riverwalk in Augusta and dates from 1919. The original church on the site was built in 1750, but due to ageing and fires which destroyed Downtown Augusta, St Paul's has had to be rebuilt a total of four times. There is a Celtic cross which marks the spot where Fort Augusta was built by the British in 1739. There is also a large cemetery attatched to St Paul's Episcopal Church.
