General Information about Pattaya

Pattaya which is one of Thailand's most visited city's can be found along the Gulf of Thailand and was originally known as Thap Phraya. The majority of Pattaya 105,000 residents are of Thai-Chinese heritage. Pattaya is located just under two hours away from Bangkok and welcomes more than five million visitors each year.

There is plenty to see and do while you are visiting Pattaya and the annual Songkran festival is one of the city's most popular events. The Songkran festival is the official Thai New Year that is usually celebrated in April. Pattaya is home to many beautiful beaches and it is the Hat Chom Thian beach that is first visited by many tourists and is approximately six kilometres in length.

If you are after an activities that is slightly different try visiting the Monkey Training Centre, here you will be given the opportunity to view the monkeys cheeky behaviour while they pick coconuts. For something more traditional visiting Pattaya's Buddha Hill is a must. Just as popular is the Nong Nooch Village which is set across 988 acres and is home to many beautiful orchids and interesting animals. You can either choose to travel to Pattaya via train, bus or taxi.
