Saint Martin is the northern part of a small island in the Caribbean. Saint Martin or the Collectivité de Saint-Martin is an overseas collectivity of France. Saint Martin shares it's island with the Netherlands dependency Sint Maarten and is one of the smallest land masses to be occupied by more than one country. To avoid confusion, the two regions are commonly referreed to as 'the French side' and 'the Dutch side'. Saint Martin has an estimated population of 33,000 people. Saint Martin's capital and largest city is Marigot.

The official language spoken in Saint Martin is French but English, Dutch, Spanish and other dialects of French and Papiamento are also spoken. The four main religions in Saint Martin are Roman Catholic, Jehovah's Witness, Protestant and Hindu. Saint Martin is packed full of wonderful French and Indian Caribbean restaurants. There are also beautiful beaches at Saint Martin, including some nudist beaches. Saint Martin has been known as a 'shoppers paradise' as there are many designer goods that are sold for 40% less the American price.
