General Information about Puebla

Set at an elevation of 7,136 feet the city of Puebla can be found within the state of the same name. Puebla was officially founded back in 1531 and is the states most populated city. The state of Puebla is situated within the centre eastern parts of Mexico actually gained its name from Puebla City which is officially known as Heroica Puebla de Zaragoza.

The historical city centre of Puebla is a great place to explore as this area is well known as being a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Featuring architecture of neoclassical influences The Puebla Cathedral would have to be Puebla's most visited cathedral. The Puebla Cathedral was officially completed in 1690 and features 14 lateral chapels in total.

Another popular tourist destination is the Great Pyramid of Cholula and is thought to be the world's largest pyramid, dating back to the 2nd century BCE. The best way of travelling to Puebla is via bus with regular buses travelling arriving from Mexico City day and night.
