General Information about Vientiane

Found near the Mekong Valley the capital of Laos of Vientiane is home to approximately 200,000 people. Vientiane has been inhabited since as far back as 1000 AD and offers a large variety of historical temples and monuments. Vientiane is the ideal place to visit to get away from it all, with its laid back environment.

One of the most popular tourist sights is Buddha Park or Xieng Khuan which is home to more than 200 Hindu and Buddhist statues. The Patuxai is one of the most noticeable monuments of Vientiane and is very similar in appearance to the Arc de Triomphe and is often known as the Champs Elysees of the East.

For true relaxation be sure to experience a traditional Lao Massage with many spa's situated around the city at very affordable prices. Vientiane also offers a variety of outdoor activities such as water rafting and hiking through some of the city's many national parks.
