General Information about Chengde

Chengde which was originally known as Rehe has been inhabited since 1703 and can be found within the provicne of Hebei. The city of Chengde is home to over 3,610,000 residents and attracts many visitors each year because of its Mountain Resort. Chengde's Mountain Resort was commissioned to be built by Emperor Kangxi and is today listed as a World Heritage Site by the UNESCO.

The Mountain Resort is a popular place to visit during the warmer months and is famous for boasting the most extensive imperial garden in the world. While visiting China's charming city of Chengde be sure to visit the Eight Outer Temples which date back to 1713 and are also known as the Bishu Shanzhuang Imperial Palace. The best way of travelling to Chengde is via rail with regular trains arriving from Beijing each day.
