Found in Northern Chile within the region of Antofagasta is the well visited town of San Pedro de Atacama. Known as El Tatio for short and Los Geiseres del Tatio in Spanish this interesting attraction is set at an elevation of 4,200 metres above sea level. At the summit of the volcano is a crater lake that is 70 meters by 90 metres.

One of the best ways to help avoid this condition is by acceding up the mountain in slow pace, climbing no more than 300 metres at a time. Other popular pastimes in San Pedro de Atacama are horse riding, stargazing and cycling. The best way of travelling to San Pedro de Atacama is by bus with trains arriving from many directions such as Santiago and Calama.
