Pucon

General Information about Pucon

Attracting many visitors each year is Chile's city of Pucon. Set at an elevation of 745 feet Pucon is home to approximately15,000 residents is famous for its close proximity to the Villarrica National Park which is set within the Andes.

You will find the city of Pucon in Chile's southern parts in a province known as Cautin. Pucon is also home to a number of beautiful lakes with Lake Villarrica being one of the cities main lakes. Climbing the Villarrica volcano is a popular activity when visiting the Villarrica National Park, and guided hiking tours to the crater are sometimes available.

Other popular tourist activities are horse riding, kayaking, white water rafting and exploring the local natural hot springs. Travelling to Pucon is simple with regular buses travelling from Santiago during the winter months. Buses do travel during summer the number of services available are limited. It is possible to fly to Pucon, however the Pucon Airport is closed during winter.
