ChileGeneral Information about ChileChile is a long narrow country located in the southeast of South America. Chile is bordered by Peru to the north, Bolivia to the notheast, Argentina to the east, the Drake Passage to the south and the South Pacific Ocean to the west. Chile has is home to over 16,280,000 people, as well as the Andes Mountains. The official language spoken in Chile is Spanish. 70% of the nations population are Roman Catholic but there is also a small following of Evangelicalism. The capital and largest city of Chile is Santiago which is located in the centre of the country and has a population of over 4 million people. Chile also controls Easter Island and Sala y Gómez Island in Polynesia, Robinson Crusoe Island and the smaller islands of San Ambrosio and San Felix.
The Museo Chileno de Arte Precolmbino in Santiago is one of Chile's most popular museums. This museum shows 4500 years of pre-Columbian history and contains many artifacts including the Chinchorro mummies which are thousands of years older than those of Egypt. Santiago also features the neo-Gothic Basílica del Salvador which dates from 1892 and the previously abandoned Barrio Brasil which is now rather popular. Chile also has many great places to ski.
