Brazil is both the 5th largest and 5th most populated country in the world with a population of over 190 million people.
The official language spoken in Brazil is Portuguese but English, Spanish and French are also spoken. Most of the population are Roman Catholic but there is a small Protestant following. Brazil is world famous for it's soccer, Iguaçu Waterfalls and annual carnival that travels through Rio de Janeiro and Salvador. Brazil's capital city is Brasilia.
Rio de Janeiro, known to be one of the party capitals of the world also has many religious sites and monuments such as the cone shaped Catedral Metropolitana built in 1972, the Igreja de NS da Glória do Outeiro church dating from 1739 and favoured by the royal family in 1808 and the Igreja São Francisco da Penitência & Convento Santo Antônio dating from 1726. Another of Brazil's popular attractions is the Amazon rainforest. This is the largest biological reserve in the world and is home to one-third of all the living species in the world.
