General Information about La Paz

La Paz which was officially founded back in 1548 is ideally located along the Choqueyapu River and is set at an elevation of approximately 11,942 feet. La Paz is well known as being Bolivia's administrative capital and offers its visitors some amazing views of the Andes Mountain Range. La Paz is also particularly famous for its close proximity to the Illimani mountains. La Paz which officially belongs to the province of Pedro Domingo Murillo and is also located near the borders of Peru and Chile.

There is plenty to see and do when visiting La Paz but if your a keen shopper then you will not be disappointed with the city's selection of local markets. There are three main shopping districts which are The Witches Market, Mercado Negro and the markets at Sagarnaga Street. The markets at Sagarnaga Street are the city's most visited markets.

La Paz is filled with culture and is home to a variety of museums and one of the best ways to learn about the city is by exploring through the Museum San Francisco. Travelling to La Paz is simple with regular flights landing at the famous El Alto International Airport which is set at an elevation of 13,313 feet.
