Bariloche

General Information about Bariloche

Located at the northern edge of the Patagonia region is where you will find the well visited city of Bariloche. Officially known as San Carlos de Bariloche, this charming city is the perfect destination for those who love skiing, hiking and mountain climbing.

Bariloche is set at an elevation of 2,930 feet and had a recorded population of approximately 130,000 residents in 2008. Closely neighboured by the Chile border, the city of Bariloche boasts some amazing view from the nearby Andes.

There are many interesting things to see and do while you are visiting Bariloche, and the Cruce de Lagos and El Bosque de Arrayanes are two of the most popular travel destinations. Also worth visiting is the Cerro Catedral which is well known as being one of South America's largest skiing areas.

There are a few ways of travelling to Bariloche with regular flights arriving at the San Carlos de Bariloche International Airport from Buenos Aires. Buses also travel from Buenos Aires to Bariloche with a number of bus companies providing regular connections.
